Business premises AWO-Schenkladen will shut down by year-end
The AWO-Schenkladen, a popular community resource centre or thrift store in Hauskampstraße, is set to close its doors at the end of November 2025.
Since its opening in April 2022, the Schenkladen has provided the local community with a free-to-use store for clothing, household items, toys, and books. The store operates on a free exchange system, where people can bring and take items like clothes, household goods, and food, including those nearing their expiry dates.
The Schenkladen has become a gathering spot for the community, offering an opportunity for people to give away items they no longer need and take home something useful. Unfortunately, the specific operating hours of the Schenkladen have not been widely publicised, so for the most accurate information, it is recommended to contact the local AWO organisation or the Schenkladen directly.
It is important to note that the Schenkladen is not an advertisement, but a valuable community resource. However, the AWO will no longer be accepting new donations of goods at the Schenkladen.
For those who wish to make use of the Schenkladen's services before its closure, it will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 5 PM until the end of November. This gives the community a final chance to take advantage of the Schenkladen's offerings and say farewell to this valuable community resource.
In the upcoming weeks leading to its closure, the community can still visit the Schenkladen, a home-and-garden and lifestyle resource, to exchange or take useful items. The remaining operating hours of the Schenkladen are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 5 PM, providing an opportunity for the community to bring items and utilize its offerings one last time.
