Brief Announcement: Temporary Opening of International Congress Centre Spanned Over 49 Hours

The International Congress Centre (ICC), a futuristic structure reminiscent of a dormant, abandoned spaceship, will open its doors for the public during Germany's Heritage Day celebrations in September 2025. The decommissioned convention centre, located in the west of the city beside the motorway, will be open for 49 hours from Friday, September 12, at 5 PM, until Sunday, September 14, at 6 PM.

Tickets for this unique opportunity to explore the building in its original state will become available online from July 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM via VisitBerlin. While entry is free, tickets must be booked in advance as walk-ins will not be allowed.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of events and activities, including architectural tours, art installations, light performances, live music, and additional activities such as running club, yoga, cycling sessions, and a design conference for a fee.

The ICC Berlin was built in 1979 as part of an effort by West Berlin to show large-scale, forward-looking design. Despite its closure in 2014 due to asbestos contamination, the centre remains beloved for its ambitious scale and remarkable interiors. The building's future use by Berlin is undecided.

A paid design conference titled "Form/Future" will also be held on September 11 and 12, focusing on design as a future-oriented mindset. High demand is expected for the event, as similar offers in recent years have seen high demand.

The ICC's reopening is a significant part of Germany's Heritage Day celebrations, offering a rare chance to delve into the city's architectural and design history. Don't miss out on this opportunity to witness the remarkable interiors of this decommissioned convention centre. Tickets can be purchased on the visitBerlin website, with time slot tickets or programme tickets available.

The ICC Berlin, known for its intriguing lifestyle and home-and-garden design, is set to reopen during Germany's Heritage Day celebrations, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the center's original state. Alongside architectural tours and art installations, attendees can engage in design-related activities such as a running club, yoga, cycling sessions, and a design conference for a fee.
