Vibrant petunias and geraniums, numbering over a hundred, are now flourishing in what was once a regular dumping ground. The Hattingberg Fountain, celebrated as the 'Joy of Life' and erected in 1987 for the city's 750th anniversary, now stands proudly on Schillerplatz.

The historic Stirnbach Fountain in Schiller Square, Iserlohn, has undergone a remarkable transformation, thanks to a collaborative effort between the city, Sparkasse Iserlohn, and SIH. The fountain, donated by Sparkasse Iserlohn in 1987 to celebrate the city's 750th anniversary, now stands as a symbol of community pride and engagement.

The renovation and floral decoration have enhanced the aesthetic appeal of Schiller Square, making it more attractive and inviting. This beautification has encouraged more people to visit and spend time in the area, fostering a greater sense of community pride and engagement.

With the fountain as a refreshed focal point, it serves as a pleasant meeting place for residents and visitors. This can boost local social interactions and contribute to a stronger community bond. The city's initiative to decorate the fountain with flowers has also highlighted the importance of maintaining public spaces, inspiring local residents to take better care of their surroundings.

Regarding trash disposal, the enhancements usually come with improved waste management measures. Installation or maintenance of trash bins near the fountain encourages proper disposal. Increased foot traffic and community presence often lead to higher vigilance against littering. Community pride and involvement after a renovation can promote cleaner behavior among visitors and locals.

The new planting, which requires watering every two to five days due to a water and nutrient reservoir, keeping effort and maintenance low, has been well-received by many residents. Martin Irmer, head of the green spaces and cemeteries department, was the idea giver for the planting. Carpenter Oliver Hardt from the Iserlohn-Hemer city operation designed and built the stand for the planting.

The Stirnbach Fountain's sculptures stand for the wire industry, the shooting society, or Iserlohn's tobacco boxes. The fountain can no longer operate with water due to demolition work at Schiller Square. A winter planting is planned to last until April, and Sparkasse director Michael Haupt emphasizes the need to ensure the fountain stays this way for a long time.

Mayor Michael Joithe hopes the new planting will curb the problem of littering at the Stirnbach Fountain. The Stirnbach Fountain, originally donated in 1987, is currently adorned with flowers. The historic Stirnbach Fountain was planned and designed by sculptor Bonifatius Stirnbach. The city has made the fountain more enjoyable by decorating it with flowers in cooperation with Sparkasse Iserlohn and SIH. Special thanks for the planting costs go to Sparkasse Iserlohn.

The Stirnbach Fountain features six bronze sculptures that represent Iserlohn's history. Twelve containers, each with eight plants, adorn the fountain, making it an interactive "hands-on art". The sculptures on the Stirnbach Fountain can be adjusted. Overall, the renovation and floral decoration of the Stirnbach Fountain help create a cleaner, more welcoming environment, indirectly contributing to more responsible trash disposal habits in Schiller Square.

People are drawn to Schiller Square due to the enhanced aesthetic appeal, creating a more inviting home-and-garden setting. The revitalization of the Stirnbach Fountain, adorned with vibrant flowers, has inspired locals to take pride in their city's lifestyle and garden spaces.
