Barriers obstructing paths in Darmstadt for two decades
In the heart of southern Eberstadt, a new health education project is underway, funded by statutory health insurance companies. Mayor Akdeniz is spearheading this initiative, aiming to improve health awareness and education in the community.
Meanwhile, in neighbouring Darmstadt, the city is recognised for its leadership in traffic turnaround, according to a test by the ADFC. However, the organisation has identified areas for improvement in the city's mobility model, particularly in terms of safety.
Darmstadt is also known for its significant remembrance efforts. Gerda Beckmann, a citizen of the city, initiated the Stolperstein laying in Darmstadt in 2005. She played a crucial role as the originator and motivator for this project, marking the beginning of this important local remembrance effort. The first ten Stolpersteine were laid on April 11, 2005, and as of last Monday, the number has increased to 425, serving as a reminder of the fate of the victims of National Socialism. The Greif family's Stolpersteine were laid in front of Grafenstraße 19, their former home.
Tragically, members of the Greif family were victims of the Holocaust. Richard Greif, Elsa Greif (born Hochschild), and Julius Greif were deported to the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp on July 15, 1942. Elsa Greif died in Auschwitz on September 30, 1942, while Richard Greif, the son of the Greif family, died at the age of 17 on August 21, 1942, in Auschwitz. Max Stein, also known as Max Meir Stein, was deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto on September 27, 1942, and died there on October 9, 1942.
Regrettably, the city of Langen is currently facing a water crisis due to a heat wave. The city has declared the first stage of a water emergency, with a low drinking water supply. Residents are urged to conserve water as much as possible during this challenging period.
The project to advance health education in Eberstadt involves various events aimed at improving community health and well-being. More information about these events will be announced in due course. Stay tuned for updates on these initiatives and other community news.
In the spirit of promoting a holistic lifestyle, the home-and-garden sector can collaborate with the new health education project in Eberstadt, contributing to a healthier living environment for residents. Following the successful implementation of traffic turnaround initiatives in Darmstadt, similar efforts can be applied to improve the city's mobility model, enhancing safety and overall lifestyle.
