Auction Off Animation Landmarks and Scarcities to Fund Los Angeles Wildfire Emergency Aid

The animation community has teamed up with ASIFA-Hollywood to launch AnimAID, an initiative aimed at raising funds for those within the industry who've been hit hard by the recent LA wildfires. A spectacular fundraising auction, jointly held by Sotheby's, has been set up to gather much-needed funds. Bigwigs like Disney, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks Animation, LAIKA, and more have chippee-ed in with a plethora of unique and rare animation art pieces for eager bidders to snap up.

The online auction is in full swing, with hopes of helping artists and professionals in the animation industry who are facing displacement or have lost their homes, as the city of Los Angeles unites and rebuilds. Renowned animation producer Don Hahn (Beauty and The Beast, Howard) took to Instagram to spread the word:

"The animation world is going through a rough patch because of the LA fires. Now, the animation fraternity is banding together, contributing artwork, priceless artwork to Sotheby's for a unique auction benefiting AnimAID. The profits will solely go to the victims of the LA fires."

The exhibit featuring over 9 decades of mesmerizing art boasts a mix of cinema and television works, such as Snow White, The Simpsons, Inside Out, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot, Beauty and the Beast, Avatar, and other beloved titles.

Hahn further expressed on Instagram, "Every bid matters and helps people restore their homes and their lives."

The bidding is happening live, and here's a sneak peek at some of the pieces available for grabs. Apart from the usual bidding items, things like film industry artist commissions, studio tours, signed posters, and more are also up for grabs, as well as original production drawings and animation cells.
