In a significant move towards promoting sustainability, Australian online retail giant The Iconic has introduced a new concept - the 'Rescued' marketplace. This innovative platform, developed in collaboration with Revibe and Re/lax Remade, is part of The Iconic's mission to reduce waste in the fashion industry.
The 'Rescued' category includes items with minor imperfections identified in The Iconic's warehouse. These pre-loved, slightly-damaged fashion pieces often fail to find a home in the fast-moving, trend-led world. However, through the 'Rescued' initiative, The Iconic aims to give these items a second life by offering them at a discounted price.
Australian startup Revibe will be responsible for cleaning and repairing the eligible pieces for sale on The Iconic. Brands included in the 'Rescued' marketplace are renowned names such as Camilla and Marc, Rebecca Vallance, Reformation, By Johnny, and more.
The pilot program includes repaired North Face jackets for $190, Shona Joy maxi dresses for $150, minorly-damaged Rebecca Vallance party dresses, and a pair of Camilla and Marc white jeans for $120.
Gayle Burchell, The Iconic's Chief Commercial & Sustainability Officer, stated that driving meaningful change through practical, customer-focused solutions is important for supporting the transition towards a circular fashion system in Australia.
Downloading The Iconic's website app provides access to the latest news and updates about the 'Rescued' marketplace. The 'Rescued' marketplace is currently available on The Iconic's website for shopping.
