A retail outlet, specifically known as Express, has commenced operations in Ekaterinburg.
In the bustling city of Yekaterinburg, the X5 Group retail chain has made a significant stride in digital transformation by opening its first dark store for express delivery. The store’s grand opening was attended by Dmitry Nozhchenko, the Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg, and Maxim Chaplygin, Director of the Department of Consumer Market and Services of the Yekaterinburg Administration, who congratulated the management and staff.
The dark store, designed for speedy delivery of X5 Group retail products, is expected to process around 1,200 orders daily. It serves the Chkalovsky, Oktyabrsky, and Leninsky districts of the city, and boasts an assortment of 15,500 items.
The Growth Platform, a strategic infrastructure or support system aimed at fostering economic development, digital transformation, and innovation in specific regions or sectors, is closely associated with investments in digital infrastructure in the Sverdlovsk region. Regional brands, particularly industrial and technological companies, are integral to this platform through their involvement in the region’s industrial base and digital infrastructure expansion.
For instance, the Key Point group of companies is undertaking a large data center project in the Craft industrial park of the Sverdlovsk region, with investments of about ₽3.2 billion, supported by funding from VTB bank. This data center is part of efforts to boost digital capacity crucial for both regional economic development and critical infrastructure needs.
The industrial strength of the region, including heavy industry and defense sectors like Uralmash and Ural Wagon Zavod, also contributes to the Growth Platform through infrastructure and workforce development. Previously reported, Sverdlovsk region brands have joined the Growth Platform, signifying a commitment to digital transformation and economic growth in the region. The staff of the dark store consists of 18 employees and 20 order pickers, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of products to customers in the designated districts.
