A 1950s Swedish Home with a Loose, Easy Vibe

In the heart of a bustling city, Katarina Matsson and her family have recently moved into a new home. The dwelling, still a work in progress, is brimming with character and charm, as Katarina weaves her unique style into the space.

Upon entering Katarina's home, one cannot help but notice the stylish seating arrangement. A pair of Series 7 chairs and a Stokke Tripp Trapp chair grace the living area, adding a touch of modern elegance. The magnificent Formakami light, a creation from &Tradition, hangs overhead, casting a warm and inviting glow.

As you venture further into the house, you'll find Milo's room, a haven of creativity and learning. A vintage desk provides the perfect workspace for an M light from Cikus Lampan, and a beautiful print by Emilia Ilke adorns the wall. The room's vibrant energy is further accentuated by a tiger rug from Moustache.

The dead space at the bottom of the stairs has been transformed into a relaxed living area, thanks to an antique chaise longue and a vintage Beni Ourain rug. This cosy nook invites one to sit, unwind, and enjoy the ambiance of the home.

Katarina's Instagram account offers a peek into the progress of her home, providing followers with a glimpse of the transformation as it unfolds.

The landing in Katarina's home is home to a gallery wall featuring works from local artists, illustrators, and photographers. Agnes Thor, Jenny Mötsell, Määrta Thisner, Malin Norden, and even Katarina's own child are among the artists showcased. The shelving above Katarina's desk displays more works from Sweden-based artists such as Agnes Thor, Jesper Waldersten, Alina Vergnano, and Malin Norden.

An open space on the landing has been transformed into a home office. The desk, hailing from IKEA, and the chair, from Too Good, provide a functional and comfortable workspace for Katarina.

In Milo's room, the landscape paintings were created by the artist Luce, known for his neo-impressionist style and his scenes along the Seine River, including Rolleboise and Paris.

The family's home is still a work in progress, but with each passing day, it becomes more and more a reflection of Katarina's unique style and the family's personality. Keep an eye on Katarina's Instagram account to follow along with the transformation.
